Just Keep Fishing
✓ Pros
- +Satisfying, well-paced progression system
- +Cozy atmosphere and relaxing idle loop
- +Steam release coming - worth wishlisting
✗ Cons
- −Only two levels in current build
- −Ragdoll character feels out of place visually
Just Keep Fishing drops you on a tiny island with a rod, a tackle box, and nothing but open water. The goal is simple: catch fish, earn coins, unlock upgrades, repeat. It's the kind of game that asks very little of you while quietly pulling you forward.
The skill tree is where the game earns its keep. Longer casts let you reach deeper water, bigger fish mean bigger payouts, and expanded inventory means fewer trips back to sell. Each unlock feels genuinely useful rather than padding - the progression has a clear logic to it that keeps the loop satisfying all the way through both levels.
The atmosphere does a lot of heavy lifting here. The island setting is cozy, the fishing is pleasantly idle, and the whole thing has a relaxed pace that suits the genre well.
The one oddity is the ragdoll player character. It doesn't affect gameplay in any meaningful way - it's just there, clipping and flopping around in a way that feels out of place against the otherwise charming visual style. It's not distracting enough to hurt the experience, but it's hard not to notice something that adds nothing.
With a full Steam release on the way, Just Keep Fishing is worth wishlisting now. Two levels in, the foundation is solid - here's hoping the full release gives it room to grow.
